VIVISECTION OF DOGS.
PROPOSED PROHIBITION. By Tel "graph—Press Association. Received 19, 0.5 p.m. London, April 18. A Bill prohibiting' vivi-scctional experiments on dogs was read a second time in the House of Commons. Sir John Larmor and Mr. J. F. P. Rawlinson (Cambridge University), Sir H. Craik (Glasgow and Aberdeen University), Sir P. Magnus (London University) and Dr. W. A. Chappie opposed the Bill in the interests of seienco, Mr. Ellis Griffith emphatically denied that there was any cruelty in the laboratories-, anil foreshadowed an ' amendment in committee permitting vivisection of the dog under anaesthetics if a certificate Were produced.
