ANNUAL COM PETITIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Saturday. The third biennial conference of the United Districts' Fire Brigades' Association was held this morning. Delegates were present from Pahiatua, Marton. Port Ahuriri, Carterton, Napier, Dannevirke, Levin, Mastvrton, Woodvillc, Gonville, Wanganui and Taihape. Prior to the commencement of business delegates were welcomed bv the mayor.

The balance-sheet showed liabilities as nil and assets £4 Is and a credit balance of £3B lis Id. The competition* commenced at Cornwall Park this afternoon in fine weather, about 150 firemen competing. Ladder Race.—Fireman S. Dixon (Mnsterton) 7%see, 1; Fireman Rove, (Pahiatua) Ssee 2; Fireman Braggins (Jlasterton) 3. Sixty-eight competed.
