| CANDIDATES AND BEATS. The Hon. A. L. HeTdman will again stand for Wellington North, the Hon. P. M. B. Fisher far Wellington Central, and Dr. Newman for Wellington East. Mr. Wright will again contest Wellington South, as a Government candidate, with Mr. Hindmaish, who defeated him three years ago. Mr. T. M. Wilford will seek re-election for the Hptt. Messrs Samuel and Bennington have "both announced their candidature in the Reform interest for that sent, but the Government are committed to neither. Sitting members will be candidates for tthe following Wellington country seats: —Wairarapa, Sir Walter Buchanan; Palmeraton North, Mr. Buick; Palmereton, Mr. : Guthrie; Itangitikci, Mr. Newman; Masterton, Mr. Sykes; Pahiatua, Mr. Escott.
Mr. Joseph Cla.i ke, an ex-Baptist minister, will oppose Mr. Poland (Liberal) the sitting member, for Ohinemuri. Mr. Ken. S. Williams', of Tuparoa, is the accepted Government candidate for the Bay of Plenty electorate, for which Mr. W. D. S. Mac Donald is the present member. Mr. Dash (Prohibition) and Mr. irtl candidate for Otaki against Mr. the field for the Waimate seat, for which Mr. P. H. Smith will not seek re-elec-tion.
Mr. W. H. Field will be the Ministerial |ca,n®i<sa-te for Otaki against Mr. Robertson (Labor), the sitting member. Mr. John Duncan has again thrown down the gage to Mr. H. M'Oallum for the Wairau. Colonel Hayhurst will be the Ministerial candidate for Temuka, for which Mr. T. Buxton will not seek re-election. Mr. G. M. Thomson will have Mr. W. Belcher as hie opponent for Dunedin North.
Mr. J. T. Johnson will oppose Mr. Clark for Chalmers. One ot two others may probably enter the field later on. Mr ; Parker M'Kinlay, of Benhar, will be the Liberal standaTd-bearer for Bruce against the Hon. James Allen. The Opposition will not put forward a candidate for the Grey seat.
