ANNIVERSARY MEKTIXG. The L'c-lobiatioii-i in honor of the first anniversary oo f the Methodist Union were concluded last night by x verlargely attended gathering in the Theatre Royal. Tlie first purt of the programme, commencing at 0 p.m., was a combined teameeting, attended by from 400 to 45(1 people, the following churches being represented:— Whiteley Memorial, -five table*: Fil/.roy, two table-; and a table each from South Road, Queen Street. Omatii, HillsboTo', Bel! Block, Korito. Mangorei, and Franklcv Road. .At ." p.m. a. public nn>etir,!» was hell. Il's Worship the Mayor (Mr 0. W. Browne! )iresided. and there were also present on the platform, the Revs. ]]. T. Peat, Griffin, T. 11. Roseveare. J. W. Burton. S. J. Serpel! (President of the Conference). A. Reader (Stratford)'. Dr. Home, and C. Garter, and Walter Ambury. The principal object of the gathering was to say farewell to the Revs. ,T. W. Burton and 11. T. Peat, who are leaving the district. These proceedings are reported elsewhere. During the evening sacred items were contributed by Misses Connctt and Cocker. Mr G. 11. Wh- ■• presided at the piano. At the conclusion of the meeting, votes of thanks were accorded to the ladies of the church, the choir, soloists and accompanist for the evening, the Rev. IT. T. Peat, Mr F. W. McAllum. and to all others who had assisted towards the success of the anniversary celebrations.
