TARANAKI PRESBYTERY.

(Communicated.) The two-iKontlily meeting of the Taranaki Presbytery was held at llawera oil Thursday. Rev. W. Pattison presided, and there were also present Revs. Ilowes, Store, Welsh, .M'lvor and Rose- I veare. I Commissions in favor of Messrs Brum- ; ner (Opunake), AitUiu (Manaia), [reland (I'atea), Lliley (Stratford), Ilalliwell (Ilawera), Garden (Norinanby) and Stewart (Kaponga) were received and sustained, and the names added to the roll. Rev. Pattison and Robertson, with their respective elders, were continued as a commission to visit New Plymouth, and Rev. Howes was joined with the .commission. Bible Class forward movement. —In this connection, Rev. Mr. Shore reported that a Bible Class conference was to be held at Hawera on June 3rd, and invitations were being issued to Bible Classes between New Plymouth and Vvanganui. HOME MISSIONS COLLECTION. Rev. Shore stressed the importance of doing all that could be done to help to put this fund in a solvent position. The work was a highly necessary one, and the congregational contributions over the whole church were by 110 means keeping pace with the , growtli of '-lie work. Endeavors should be made to adopt a system of personal canvas instead of retiring collection and much might be accomplished by special efforts. , „ STUDENTS' BURSARY. Rev. Mr. Balfour (Dunedin) wrote asking if anything could be done in the Taranaki Presbytery towards founding another students' bursary. It was pointed out that were already contributing to the Colonial Trained Ministers' Bursary, and probably some of the members of the churches were helping in 1 other directions. ' It was agreed to draw the attention of congregations, elders, and ministers to the request. HOME MISSIONS REPORTS. Interesting and encouraging reports were given by Messrs Stewart, Dunlop, Ireland, and Halliwell of work in Kapanga, Waitara, Patea and Toko, and by Rev. Mr. Roseveare on behalf of the Okato missionary, and despite many hardships and drawbacks, through -indifference and conflicting interests, it was evident that the Home -Mission staff are men of grace and gumption and go. Mr. Stewart emphasized the necessity of imitating the Roman Catholics and drilling religion into the children. The language at times was more forceful than usually heard in Presbyterian courts. Mr. Dunlop at Waitara is pushing ahead, and tile friends there arc loyally supporting him. A new church site has been secured and money raised ( £225 18s (id) for a church in reinforced concrete to seat about 300 and cost £l2O.

BIBLE IX STATE SCHOOLS LEAGUE.

Mr. Shore moved that the Presbytery reallirms a former resolution, heartily approving of the J3.S.S.L. platform and instructs the cleric to circularise sessions with a view to urging support of the movement, and advises an exchange of pulpits in connection with this matter.
