PIONEERS' MEMORIAL. UNVEILING CEREMONY TAKES PLACE AT EASTER. Hokitika, April 2. The unveiling ceremony in connection with the above has been fixed for Easter Tuesday (April 14th). The memorial is now being reared and the surrounding grounds ornamented. Mr J. Maunder, borough arejfieer, is in charge of the ornamentation, .vhitli will be made very attractive; Scats will also be installed at the rear of the memorial. The Railwuy Department is providing a special service for the day, including through connexions to Reef ton, providing for the return journey. EnMr F. Hopkinson, late conductor of the Wcstport Garrison Band, has accepted the position of musical adjudicator. Bpth players and public will have every confidence in Mr Hopkinson's ability. The Greymouth Liedertafel Bsciety will attend upwards of 4i) strong to assist in the singing at the unveiling ceremony, and also at a concert in the Princess Theatre at night. The memorial is to stand at tlve corner of Fitaherbert and . Stafford streets, which are the main arteries for through traffic north and south, and also inland. The pedestal which is to be unveiled on Easter Tuesday will bear the following inscription, the four Bides being utilised: — . On the front side: 1864-1914. In Honor of The Pioneers of Westland.
