A SUDDEN DEATH.

Alfred Larkin, aged 38, employed at Glcndhu Station, near Lawrence, died 1 suddenly. He returned to the station af- 1 ter ; having been in Lawrence Hospital, and a few hours afterwards suddenly felt down and died in a few minutes. ( The verdict at the inquest was that death was due to rupture of a blood vessel in the brain. A PITIFUL SbICIDE. Nelson, Saturday. Ethel Hammond, aged 25, wife of K. Hammond, of Richmond, committed suicide by taking poison. Deceased hud been melancholy since a recent ■ childbirth and no other reason can be given for lier suicide as she was happily mar- ] ried. 1 ' I DIED IN CHURCH. ] Wellington; Last Night. 1 A tragic occurrence took 'place at St. i Anne's Church, Wellington South, on ) Friday night. While serivc was being held, a member of the congregation, Mrs. i Mary Agnes Jones, a widow, who resided in Mansfield street, died suddenly from heart failure. Dr. CUeeson was called, and on arrival pronounced life to i be extinct. A HOSPITAL EXCITEMENT. By Telegraph —Press Association. Napier, Last Night. A laborer, aged 511, who was admitted to the hospital last month under the name of James Barry, attempted to commit suicide yesterday afternoon by cutting his throat with a razor.
