THE MEAT HABIT.
GROWS WITH PROSPERITY. Times and Sydney Sun Cables. Received 5, 5.5 p.m. London, April 4. The increased prosperity in most countries and the new modes of civilisation, are making mankind mors carnivorous, and the luxury of meat food is not relinquished when once acquired. Higher prices will cause discontent in the industrial classes. It is hoped that the situation will be eased by improvements in agriculture and stock-raising, both at Home and abroad.
