ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.
AT MOTURCA. Tliu first anniversary leg.uta of this provuios- drew a good crowd to itoturoa yesterday. The regatta events comprised rowing and sailing races, the arrangements for which were not such as one could grow enthusiastic over. The contests evoked keen interest amongst dwellers on Hie waterfront. The Alotu-l-oa Seaside Improvement Committee was for the nonce a headless organisation, the chief oll'icials having other dish to frv, and the land and sea races being left to an attenuated committee and the kindly attentions of volunteers. Fortunately, the sea beach always has its charms for the young people, and the oldsters enjoyed the picnic in the open air and tin- renewal of old acquaintances. The XI. Regiment Band played an excellent programme of popular music. A few games of skill, tea kiosk, and refreshment stall seemed to do excellent business. Reverting to the management, mention might he imule of tlm fact that '-time and tide wait for no man," not even for regatta officials, and so the .bicycle and other events had to wnit until the tide ebbed sufficiently to enable a track to he used.
