EMPIRE PICTURES. "KINU OF TIIQ AIR." The following is an extract from the Auckland Herald, which will give New Plymouth picture patrons an outside opinion of this wonderful picture, which is. to be shown at the Empire Theatre to-night:—"The picture is entitled 'King of the Air,' and the thread of the connecting narrative concerns a love affair, but this is quite subordinate to the incidental features. The tango, a3 danced by experts, is so faithfully pictured that local 'enthusiasts will have no difficulty in learning the various steps of this much-discussed dance. Most people, however, will find the flying scenes more interesting. The aviation 1 Derby (the (lold Clin of the Aviation Club of Paris) is realistically portrayed. Aeroplanes are shown encaged in a raco from Paris to Halland and back again. This was an event in which some of the most famous aviators in the world competed. Dozens of aeroplanes are shown in graceful (light, and the later scenes give panoramic glimpses of the country traversed en route. These were photographed with a camera carried on one of the aeroplanes. One beautiful scene is a bird's-e.ve view of a Dutch seaport town of quaint houses, with crowded wharves and bustling rsteamboats nlying on a river. Sensation-lovers are catered for in a scene which shows an aeroplane fulling to earth. To all appearance the disaster is a genuine one. and not of the 'fake' variety. There are several good support)! l " pictnros."
