The deceased was a member of Major Atkinson's Bushrangers, and just 50 years ago took part in the assault on Kaitakc, in Captain Good's company. Two months ago Captain Black, secretary of the Veterans' Association here, secured the militar- pension for Mr French, but the latter did not survive long to enjoy it. The remains were conveyed to their last rest-ing-place by the deceased's comrades, Hi-! cofl'in being enshrouded in the flag which he had fought under in the Maori war. Bugler Walker sounded the "Last Post."
