It is understood that Clifton Foothall Club has decided to enter a senior team in the Saturday competition in preference to the Thursday competition. What is surely a position unique in the history of Southland football clubs or other clubs was disclosed by the report submitted to the annual meting of the Invercargill Football Club. On the books were the names of 180 members, all of whom paid their annual subscription, while the credit, balance was set down at £23 odd. This shows the value of an energetic treasurer to an institution of the kind. But the Stratford and Waimate clubs have credit balances worth writing about. Mr. Edgar Wrigley, the New Zealander, who has been playing Northern Union football for lludderslield for the past season or (wo. has been transferred to Hunslet. The fee of €SOO which was paid by the Hunslet Club for the transfer is the second highest in Northern Union history, the highest being £f>oo paid by Hull to Hunslet for the services of William Batten.
