THE BAND CARNIVALS.

TIIK AIiCADLAN IIEVIiLS. Business was brink at the Build Carnival lust nij,'lit, and between Arcadiun levels, Hitting damsels in pursuit of the nimble shilling, and loud-voiced advocates of the joys of "l'ingulet" t.nd similar methods of losing money and looking pleasant, tho Theatre Royal presented u scene of pleasant animation. The stalls proved veritable trans for the unwary, presided over by smiling sirens and patronised b" all and Bundry, bachelors investing in weird and wonderful household appliances und ladies purchasing attributes of the merely masculine, so irresistible were the charming saleswomen. Of the "Arcadian Uevels" much might be written, but suffice if. to say that the dances and spectacular events are well conceived and excellently carried out, leaving the spectator with a feeling of surprise at tlie abundance of material which Professor Cardston lias seemed. Ths dressing in some of the numbers was very effective, and the movements intelligently carried out, the whole contributing to a very pleasing effect. The items submitted last night included several which ,liad been given on the first night of the carnival, and were as popular as on that occasion. The Quaker girls, with Miss Eileen McGuirc as leader and soloist, were most enthusiastically received, and their graceful performance was deservedly encored. The loug programnfe of dances which will be submitod (luring the carnival is sufficiently varied to present dancing in all its phases, and should make the proceedingH well patronised throughout.
