AN IMMIGRANT'S DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Giaborne, Yesterday., A middle-aged man was found dead in a doorway near a building in course of construction. He has been identified as W. Jones, an immigrant, tlio arrived from England in September last. He had been working in the country. The man had been drinkin- about town, and spent the night out in the storm. The coroner returned a verdict of death from nleurjgjr, A YOUTH DROWNED. Wanganui, Yesterday. .Tames Thomson, aged 19 years, .the second son of J. W. Thomson, harbormaster at Okarito, lost his life on Friday at Five Mile Creek. He was taking stores up the creek in a boat, and, not returning, search wa3 made next day. His body wag found on Saturday afte'rnooi in the creek.l FOUND DEAD. Wanganui, Yesterda. A man, named E. Hodrcn, a secondhand dealer, was found dead on his premises this morning. Deceased was an old identity.and well known on the coast. MOTonrsrs escape. V, Napier, Yesterday. There was a narrow escape from a very serious accident at the gasworks railway crossing aa the first train w.is arriving this morning from Hastings. A taxi-driver, John Black, got his car right on to the metals before he observed that the train was upon him. Tie made a desperate effort to swerve off, but the engine caught the rear wheel and carried the car into the cattle-stop, completely wrecking it. Black was thrown with considerable force some' distance out. but escaped with a severely-cut head. The crossing is a very dangerous one, several fatalities having occurred there, and the Government has been reoeatedly urged to instal an alarm.

A BODY IDENTIFIED. Auckland, Yesterday. The man whose dead body was found at the foot of a cliff has been identified as Stuart Lyell, a micUle-aged man.
