EMPIRE THEATRE. x '"SCROOGE." To-night, at the Empire Tlieatre, patrons will b e introduced through thte medium of the cinema to the famous EnsIwh actor. Mr Seymour Hicks, in the play and character of "Scrooge." « part which Mr Hicks ig credited with playing ™ conspicuous success on over 2000 occasions. "Scrooge" ig a dramatisation of the late Charles Dick-en.;' "A ChristMas Carol," and takes its stage-name irom the 'squeezing, wrenching, -rasping, covetous old sinner, who secret and solitary as an oyster, was hard a*d' ■ sharp as (lint, from which no steel has ' ever struck out generous lire." The performance from -hich to-night's pictorial presentation was taken was specially for the cinema hy Hick* and his London company on the spots indicated in Dickons' book, and the privilege of witnessing the renroduction of the " work of the celebrated actor and his confreres is one of those specif advantages which is derived from the existence of that modern invention, the kineniatogruph. The film is 3000 ft long, of line quality, anit the acting is described as superb. Other motion pictures selected to support "Scrooge" are "A Window on Washington Park" (Vitagraph drama), "Construction, of a Locomotive" (industrial), "Wellington Athletic Sports" (topical), "Gauroont Graphic," "Sauce for the Goose" (comedy), and "New Zealand Animated ' News." The Empire orchestra will-eon-tribute overtures und incidental jnmie to all screenings. Box plans are now open at Hoffmann's.
