GOOD RECEPTION'S ON THE WEST COAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hokitika, Last Night. The Hon. W. F. Massey, the Prime Minister, delivered a politicnl speech here on Saturday nieht. He spoke for two hours, and dealt at some length with the various measures placed on the statutes for the past two years, and the administration of his Government generally. A motion of thanks and confidence in the present Government was carried unanimously. Mr Massev was cheered at the conclusion of his speech, which was punctuated with applause. Subsequently he was entertained by the members of the Wcstland branch of the Reform League. On Saturday the Premie? visited the Kokatahi and Kaiterangi districts. During the day he met a number of deputations with regard to local requirements. He was entertained hy t 1 settlers, who gave him a most enthusiastic reception. To-day Mr Massey attended a ceremonv of laying the foun-dation-stone of St. Mary's.Church. Bishop Grimes officiated, and it was an iim>r«sive Ceremony. To-morrow he proceeds to Ross and returns to Hokitika in the evening, when he will be entertained by the local bodies at a social gathering. He will leave Hokitika for Christchurch on Tuesday morning.
