WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. •■ i At the monthly meeting of the Waitara West Road Board, there were present: Messrs T. French (chairman), Hall, Lepper, Surrey and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from Mr. VT. D. Cartwright, stating that he would be unable to start his Kelly road contract before the end of the month; from the chairman of the Moa Road Board, forwarding copy of by-law»; from Wiaitara Borough Council, forwarding annual subsidy of '£B 10s 9d towards upkeep of Belt road. The chairman reported that he had interviewed Mr. W. Rowe re procuring metal from his pit for repairs to Kelly road, and that Mr. Rowe would charge a royalty of ■id per yard, and would also require the pit to be opened up properly. The clerk was directed to sue for nil outstanding rates after the 17th of the month. Mr. Albert Rowe attended the meeting, and requested that about a eh.iin and a-half of new metal be put down on the Matarikoriko road, and it was decided to do this, Mr. Surrey to arrange with Mr. Richards to supply the metal. Mr. Clark waited on the" Hoard and complained that the creek miming through his property was blocked up by silt from the road, and it was resolved to write and ask Mr. T. Giddy to clean out the same on behalf of the Board. The chairman reported that he had appointed Mr. Dowman surfaceman for tha Lepperton side of the district. As neither of the new surfacemen had been able to obtain a house to live in, It , was resolved to Tequest Mr. W. CartI wright to inspect the cottage on Mr. ].Fussei's property, in company with the chairman, and report at next meeting as to value, condition, cost of removing to Lepper.ton, and re-erecting. Concrete pipes were authorised to be procured for two culverts on Tate road, the surfaceman to be instructed to la? same, and also to procure a cart and fill in wheel tracts with metal. Accounts amounting to £2O wcr<.> passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
