While salvaging cargo a heavy sea capsized the dory, and Captain Burns and a seaman named Snow were thrown into the water. Another dory rescued them, but a sea capsized it. Three men were then struggling in th» vmirling water. Assistance arrived in aaothei 1 dory and rescued the third man, but as they were dragging in Captain Burns the seas tore the dories apart and Burns sank. An excited crowd watched on the seashore, fearing both rescuers and rescued would be overpowered by the sea running. '
