SWIMMING.
GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL. ANNUAL SPORTS. There was a large attendance of interested spectators at the municipal baths yesterday afternoon, when the girls of the New Plymouth High School held their annual swimming' sports. All the events were well contested, and were got away in good time by Mr. W. Whitaker, Mr. S. Paul acting as judge. Several of the events, including egg and spoon, candle, and blind-fold races, were responsible for not a little Snuscment, ami much splashing. The Misses G. and M. Mouatt »'<•;•..• most prominent anions? the winners. One of the most exciting events of the afternoon was a well-con-tested relay race, which was won bv Miss M. Monatt's team, after a strenuous contest. This young lady herself annexed five firsts and two seconds. Following are the results": Maiden race, 33ydsi—D. Peach scr 1. Alice George and S.
