The wool sales have closed with brisk demand from all sections of the trade, including America, and the prospects are favorable. Home and Continental trade is good and likely to continue so. The estimated American purchases are approximately 17,000 bales against 5000 bales at last sales. There are 1.300 bales of New Zealand wool held over. The estimated values are: —Superior merinos Is Id to Is 3d, medium lOd to" Is, inferior B%d to lOd, fine crossbreds all grades Is Id to Is 3%d, medium crossbreds all grades lOd to Is, coarse crossbreds all grades Oct to lid. The Bank of New Zealand Ims received the following cable advices from its London office:—"The market has closed with good demand for fine nnd coarse crossbreds. Total quantity held over 3500, of which 3200 are New Zealand. Compared with the opening of this series prices for crossbred medium are 5 per cent, lower."
