I.V DEFENCE OK LIBERALISM. j Ly Telegraph.—Press Association, Gore, Last Night. Mr G. W. Russell, member for Avon, addressed a meeting at the Princess Theatre in repy to the Hon. A. L. 1 lerdman's at Wyndham last Wednesday. Mr Rnssefl Outlined the lr- ! ory- of the Liberal Party. He said that in 1912 a Government drawn from tin reactionary forcjs of the country, whfi were not a Government bv the will of the people, came into power. The speaker referred to tile Liberal Party's record of the last twenty years, and outlined the happening of 1912, when the present Government eame into power. Mr Russell said Sir Josoph anl had retired an unbeaten man, but the Mackenzie Government had been beaten by eight votes. Five of these had been returned bv the Liberal Party, av.d they would at the next election have to answer to their constituents. He referred to the composition of the Ministry, and said there was not one whom he could call new Wood of the Reform Party under this name. The country had a Reform Government that wis a "Tory' GoverrtfnentV ' Its.career was one of broken pledges and unkept promises and mismanagement. Referring to the Second Ballot repeal, Mr. Russell said' the Opposition had been gagged infamously.
