End of the Strike
SYDNEY BATCHERS' DISPUTE. MEN RESUME OX'MONDAY. By Cubic—Press Association—Copyright Received 7, 1 a.m. Sydney, March 6. The meat strike'is ended, and the men will resume work on Monday. An overwhelming majority at the mass meeting agreed to accept the Premier's proposals. The union officials said they had been assured the terms would be agreed to by the employers. The terms of settlement are not available. MEX KEEN TO RESUME. BRISK TRADE AT SHOPS. Received (i, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, March 0. The general feeling among the men is that a settlement cf the. meat dispute will be arrived at at to-night's mass meeting. Tt is practically certain that had the men known they would have to light other employers than the retail butchers, the strike would never Have been precipitated. The men appear keen to return to work and to reach an amicable arrangement, as many are at the end of their resources. The master butchers are confident the men will return. . No union men are working in the city yet, but may resume at any moment. There was brisk trade in the city shops to/day. Supplies were limited. ' Sydney, March 0. Mr. Estell stated that he was satisfied that the master butchers would favorably consider the proposals to have work resumed forthwith as a hasis to a financial settlement. His opinion was that matters were now right as rain. The employers state that they have made no offer to the men. If they go back it will be on the masters' terms. They declare that about a hundred unionists resumed work yesterday.
