THE SUFFRAGETTES.
AMERICAN DEMANDS. A MALE-GARBED SPOKESWOMAN. DEBATE IN THE SENATE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 4, 10.55 p.m. Washington, March 3. The House Judiciary Committee received suffrage-and anti-suffrage deputations demanding the constitutional amendment of the United States laws and providing for feminine suffrage. Doctor Mary Walker, trousered and silk hatted, a noted feminist who is specially committed to wear male garb, made a vigorous plea for women's rights, threatening that the woman voters throughout the suffrage States would destroy the Democratic party unless their demands were granted. The Senate, Later, debated the question, and Senator Clapp held that all the evil influences throughout the United States sought to prevent women getting votes, as they would instantly right many glaring social wrongs.
