THE ALIEN PROBLEM.
CANADA'S ACTION. DIVERSE OPINIONS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 3, 11.5 p.m. Ottawa, March 3. During the debate in the House of Commons on immigration, Mr. Rodolphe Remieux declared that the Hindu problem in British Columbia had reached an acute stage. He emphasised the action taken by New Zealand and Australia. Other speakers referred to the economic disturbances caused in lands where, labor was well paid by the incursion ot people accustomed to the lowest standard of living. On the other hand, some of the speakers pointed out the necessity for preserving friendly relations with China and Japan owing to the growth of Canadian trade in those countries.
During the debate, Mr. Stevens, the Vancouver member, quoted seditious articles published in a Sanscrit paper at San Francisco entitled "The Meeting."
