CHINESE BANKRUPT.
"A -HOPELESS TANGLE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yestcrday. A meeting of the creditors in the bankrupt estate of Cluing Tack, a Chinese fruiterer, which is only the second Chinese bankruptcy in Wellington in eight years, showed that his affairs were in a hopeless .tangle. The liabilities to Chinese and European merchants were £2201 17s and assets £437, including Chinese medicines £205 Ids (id. Tho. estimated deficiency was £1930 l'2s 7d. The Official Assignee, Mr. Simpson, stated that no 'doubt bankrupt had been purchasing goods just prior to his bankruptcy and selling them to his fellowcountrymen. Unless a buyer was found for the medicine it would be absolutely useless. One creditor pressed for a public examination of bankrupt. The meeting was adjourned sine die. Separate tenders are to be called for the medicine and other stock and an investigation of the books will be made through au interpreter.
