An inquest was held this afternoon on the body of Lucy MaeAlister,a young married vvonuu!, "which wasi found yesterday floating elosd to the rocks near the lakapuna wharf. The coroner returned a verdict that the deceased was found drowned, and that there was no evidence to sliow how she got into the water. A IiAILWAY FATALITY. Dunedin, Last Night. The inquest concerning the death of Peter Mitchell, a railway employee, aged /0 years, who fell from a railway truck oil Tuesday, was held to-day. * John Gibb, who was working near deceased nt the time of the accident, said lie saw deceased in the act of falling from the wagon. It wasi deceased's duty to cover the trucks, and evident')- as he was starting to put the tarpaulin on the truck he slipped and fell. A verdict of accidental death from internal hemorrhage was recorded, no blame being attachable to anvone.
MOTOR-CYCLE FATALITY. Wellington, Last Night. The body of a young man, believed to be named Revel!, aged about 24, was found on the roadside between Tetone and Ngahauranga this evening, Tie apparcnty was riding a motor-cycle, and ran into a dray standing beside the track. The body was brought into town to await definite identification. SUDDEN DEATH. Dunedin, La-st Might. While engaged at work at Pclichet Bay to-day, Charles Haywood, employed as a yardman by the Green Island Coal Supply Company, died suddenly. Deceased leaves a widow and a grown-up family of eight. . DEATH BY POISON 1 KG. Dunedin, Last Night. William Coutts, aged 74 years, was admitted to the hospital this afternoon suffering from a dose of poison. He died about 3.30 p.m. lie was a widower. It appears he informed his daughter he had taken poison, which had been used for killing insects. He. was taken to the hospital immediately, hut efforts to save his life ivere fruitless. It is not known whether the poison was taken accidentally or otherwise.
