THE SUFFRAGETTES.
j NOT PREPARED TO APOLOGISE. SHOCKING OUTRAGE. By Gible—Press Association—Copyright London, February 20. Miss Lindsay stated that although she mistook Lord Weardale for .Mr. Asquith she was not prepared to apologise, because though Lord Weardale. had not so much power to torture women ho was equally blameworthy. Men who tortured women in the twentieth century ought to be thrashed. In reply to the magistrate pointing out that Lord Weardale was an old man, Miss Lindsay said, "All the more shame to him!" The suffragettes, using inflammable liquids and explosives, burned the Hast Lothian Parish Church at Whitekirk, elected in 1297. It contained priceless old furniture, and its historic Bible was destroyed. Enormous slabs of stone were dislodged and shattered.
