(lolwell, president of the Methodist Conference, now sitting in Sydney, says:—"The Methodist Conference has heard with interest of the movement in New Zealand to secure tli.' advantages possessed by New South Wales of direct religious teaching and Bible lessons in their system of wiblic instruction, and hopes the movement will speedily achieve complete success in New Zealand." ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE. Wellington, l/'.st Night. George William Bosher, occupier of a tobacconist's shop in Cuba Street,, was arrested on a charge of using the place as a common gaming-house. The police found betting paraphernalia, consisting chiefly of "<louhle charts," on the premises, and Bosher had £H7 10s on him.
