HAWKE'S BAY WANTS.
DJCPITATIOX TO THE PREiJIER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Uist Night. This morning the Premier was waited on by a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce, who requested that the Government grant a sulaidy towards the cost of bridging the Kaiigitikei River on the Napier-Taihape Road. Mr Massey promised t» lav the request before the Minister for Public Works. The deputation also urged the Government to sot up a Commission to enquire into the title of native lands on the route of the East Coast Railway, and that these lands he purchased before the line went through. The Premier replied that it was the policy of the Government to acquire, lands on the route of a new line ns much as possible, ~nd it would be purchased on the East Coast route. He would lay the request for a Commission to enquire into the native titles before the Native Minister. The "Premier and the Hon. F. IT. Tl. Fisher arc being entertained at a banquet by the fruitgrowers this cvemV.
