TARANAKI SHOW.

COMMENCES TO-MORROW. A considerable number of stock have already arrived for the show, which opens to-morrow (Wednesday). To-day every train'will be loaded. * The committee is having a busy time arranging accommodation for the numerous exhibits which are expected, and would be pleased of the offer of small paddocks handy to town in which to place cattle, horses or sheep.

The racecourse, on whieh the show ia to lie held, is already a hive of industry, and the committee is to he congratulated upon the splendid arrangements which have been made for the. comfort of both the exhibitors and the public. The hup. ring in which the competitions are to be held is immediately in front of the grandstand, from which an excellent view can be 'obtained. The small charge of Is will be made for admission to this part of the ground. Hesidcs the numerous side-shows there will be the usual weight-guessing competition, for which splendid prizes are offered, and for those who can use the long-handled fork a sheaf-tossing coinpetition lias been provided. The prizemoney f»r this event will be hv way of sweepstakes. An event that will be watched with great interest will be the harnessing and unharnessing competition for ladies. This interesting item has drawn a good number of contestants, and the competition should be keen. The ponyjumping will also be a good event, and should be much appreciated by the public. As a matter of fact, al'l the competitions have filled well. Amongst the competitors will be found some of the best talent in the province. At this year's show there will be amusement provided for everybody, so that with the special trains and excursion fares the attendance on People's Day should he the largest ever seen on a showground in the district.
