FIRES.
GISIIORXF HOUSE BURNED. Ily Telegraph—Press Association. Gisbomo, Yesterday. A live roomed hous'c, owned and occupied by Robert Hawker, was destroyed on Saturday night. The house was for £l2O in the Norwich Union Office. FIRE AT OXEIII'XGA.' Auckland, Yesterday. A five-roomed house at Onehunga owned by Smith and occupied by J. W. Stockloy, was destroyed by tire at midnight. The occupants escaped in their night attire. PICTURE FILMS OX FIRE. Taumaruimi, Yesterday. Shortly after 10 o'clock on Saturday night a fire broke out in the operating box of the Strand Picture Theatre. The operator burnt his hands in trying unsuccosifully to suppress the" flames, which rapidly spread. , The audience, which was small owing to a large number having already left, dispersed quietly. The brigade suppressed the outbread. All the films were destroyed, and the interior fittings and plant badly damaged. The loss is covered by insurance.
