ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT.
TOWN CLERK IX TROI'IiLE. In the Magistrate's Court at New Plymouth on Saturday, before .Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., William de Uroudy Ogier, late town clerk of Ing'lewood, was charged with having stolen C20I) from the Inglewood liorough Council on dates between July, 1!)12, and .lanuarv, ]!>!!. Senr.-Sergt. Iladdrell applied for a remand to Inglewood for eight days. lie explained that the warrant had been issued from the Inglewood Court, and licensed had only been arrested on Thursday. A remand was granted until 10.30 a.m. on March 2, at the Inglewood Court.
During the discussion of bail, Scrgt. Haddrell stated that there was another charge pending, and that; the total .amount of the defalcation was alleged to be over £OOO. Rail was fixed "it. £6OO, in accused's own surety of .OT) and two of £l5O each.
