MEMORABLE MISSIONARIES.
NAMESAKES AT WORK. I',v Telegraph—Press Association. Nelaon, Last Night. At the last Diocesan Synod, Bishop ji'adlier initiated a project to enable the ministrations of religion to ]ie carried to the settlers in the Sounds and backblocks by means of a launch and a van, to be named "Sclwyn" and "Samuel Marsden" respectively, each of which would be equipped for celebrations of Holy Communion and church purposes generally, and furnish the quarters' gf the clergyman in charge. Funds are being raised towards the realisation of the project, which has, through the generosity of Hiss Marsden, who has generously contributed very large sums towards diocesan objects, been substantially advanced. Miss Marsden has expressed to the Bishop her desire to defray the whole cost of the "Marsden" vim. This will enable the Bi3hop to apply all the funds in hand to the "Selwni" launch.
