TRADE PROSPECTS.
AX ENCOURAGING FOKECAST.. 'i I'y Telegraph.—Presrs Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, the president, Mr S. J. Nathan, referred to the fact that in spite of the smallpox epidemic and tlie strike, the past year k>d been a satisfactory one. Financial matters had been fairly satisfactory, although the tightness of the money market had been felt in gome quarters. The rates for money ihad been high, it was true, hut the much easier feeling that now obtained on the Loudon market would no doubt be reflected at a very early date in this country, so that any financial stringency remaining should be much relieved, In fact, matters were lmuh more optimistic in this connection than had been the case for a considerable time past, and 'with tho high prices that were ruling for products in the Home and Other markets business prospects for the coming year were much more encouraging. Mr B. KeHt is president of the Chamber for the coming year.
