Previous reports of the capture were untrue. According to Castillo's men's slal >- moiits, they lired an empty freight train and despatched it into the tunnel, with the cars still burning. When tlif passenger train dashed in, everyone aboard was dead. Castillo captured many wealthy Mexicans, and held them for ransom. One wateller in the neighborhood informed the Americans of Castillo's whereabouts, and they made a detour, bringing him on to American territory, and thus leading to his capture.
