TOLL-GATES.
The Stratford County Council wrote asking for information re toll-gates. It stated that it was thinking of creeling one on the Main road.—The Council has no toll-gate. GENERAL. The Inspector-of Noxious Weeds notified that lie had attended to the mai- . ter_of noxious weeds growing l>el\u»'i> Pungarehu and Putiiho roads. Mr. J, Munro wrote declining to carry on contract No. 24G at the price olVkpvl and from tho pit indicated.—Fresh tenders were called and hud been dealt with at that meeting. In connection with the transfer of loans, Cr. Davy asked if it were not possible for the Egmont county to take over the Eltham road loan from the Taranaki County Council. It was pointed out that the Council had always been willing and anxious to have tiie liability transferred, but the matter was in the hands of the Taranaki County Council. The engineer wag instructed to report with reference to the alteration of Plumner's Hill on the Main road near Pungarehu. Cr. Willcox tabled a notice of motion that the Council consider the Advisability of erecting permanent offices. Accounts amounting to £772 lis ILI were passed for payment.
