The attendance was again yery large and speculation brisk. The sum of £111,833 was passed through the total isator, as against £12.014 Mis on tin' corresponding day last year. The total investments for the meeting were £32.8,'!3 10s, .'in increase of £737!) on last year's figures. The racing was again very interesting, and the many close finishes reflected credit on the chili's handicapper, Sir. Geo. .Morse. Mr. O'Connor was again seen at his bc>t, and though several very fractious horses were amongst the runners, his send-olfs were remarkably even. -Mr W. 11. Ilartgill officiated ill the judge's box in his usual capable manner. During the day the stewards met to consider the cause of Astor's fall in the Grandstand Handicap. The horse's rider (.1. O'Sliea) was cautioned for injudicious riding, and was ordered to stand down for the rest of the meeting. The victory of the locally-trained horse Patronale in the Atkinson Memorial Handicap was very popular. The musical selections supplied by iir. Gerald van Heck's orchestra were again the feature of the gathering. The club's secretary, Mr. Webster, kept everything moving briskly. The quartette moved off in line, and Warea took the lead from Cornelian and Ilnia, with Higliden last. A bad jump lost Huia a couple of lengths, and the order as they ran into the straight was Warca, Cornelian, Huia and Highdell. -Huia ran up to Cornelian as they passed the stand, and between the five and six furlongs posts ran into the lead. Huia was never afterwards headed, and ran in an easy winner by three lengths from Cornelian. Warea was two lengths away, third, and Highden List. Time, 2min 49 2-ssec.

Lord Lupin ran up to tlie leader, at the end of a furlong and Grattmi came also through, flrattan was sho'ving slightly in front of Lord Lupin liefore entering the straight, but tlie latter was first to straighten up for the run home. Astor here crossed his legs and fell. Lord Lupin just lasted long enough to beat Grattaa by a geod bead, with Epwortli a head away third. Gladiole was fourth and Orherga jiext. King Cliira headed Armaturo, but. could make no impression on Martingale, who was full of running. Ratana came fast in the straight and heat his stable mate, King Cliira, by a neck for second place. Martingale finished better than the first day, and won i nicely by a couple of lengths. Armature finished fourth, and Butcher Boy was a had last. Time, lmin 15 4-ssec. Los Angelos led off from an even Send-oIT, but Coroinandel and Cheddar were the leaders as tlvey ran into the straight. Passing the stand Coromandel, Cheddar. Allegation and Peroneal were most prominent, of a bunched lot. At six furlongs Coro•mandel still showed the way to Clicd•dar and Allegation, with Patronale now in fourth place. Cheddar then reiired and Patronale ran up to Allegation. Patronale collared Coromandel three furlongs from home anil Los Angelos was coming fast. Patronale turned for ■home with a lead of a couple of lengths, •which he maintained to the finish. Los Angelos was second, a head in front of C.oldsize, who came fast in the straight. A good race up the straight resulted ill Conney defeating Patroness by half a length. Tiatann was finishing fast a similar distance away, third, and Classis and Minora headed the ruck. Winner trained liv F. Iliggott. Stepney caused a lot of trouble at Hie barrier, but Mr. O'Connor eventually slipped them to a good start. Pcronilla, on the rails, hopped away first, and was hotly piirsnod by Play OIY and Glenfern along the back. Play Off closed on Pcronilla three furlongs from home, an<l the pair ran into Ihe straight abreast. A splendid set-to ensued, the leaders racing nerk and neck to the last few varus, when' Pcronilla forged ahead and won a great race l!,v I a liead. Glenfern was a poor third, and Stepney, Boron ia and Rector Girl followed. Time; lmin. 14 ;2-ssec.

Patroon and Firing Lftie passed St. Carrie oil the turn, and fought out a slashing finish. Firing Line winning by a long head. Centenary put in a strong run, and was almost level with Patroon .
