SYDNEY WHARFMEN. DECIDE TO WORK NO OVERTIME. Sydney, February 7. As anticipated, the wharfmen's meeting endorsed the recommendation not to work overtime from Monday next. So far this will only affect cargo steamers. A similar course was adopted at the meeting in Brisbane. The wharfmen's decision also applies to other Queensland ports.
SYDNEY BUTCHERS' DEMANDS. I Sydney, February 7. A crisis is threatened in the butchering trade on Monday unless the men's demands for a forty-eight hours' week and an advance of ten shillings in weekly pay is conceded.
