ENTERTAINMENTS.

■EMPIRE PICTURES. ''Brcnnan of the Moor," which made its first appearance before a New Plymouth audience at the Empire Picture Palace on Saturday night, is an excellent drama cast in a setting of Irish stenery which greatly enhances the mcrits of the picture. It is the story of a young Irishman, who, because of the ill-treatment meted out to his father by tlie aristocracy of his country, vows to revengo himself upon the rich by robbing them for the benefit of th» poor. This lie docs with some success, until the inevitable happens, and he falls '.n love with a young lady of high connections, to whom the romance and daring of his wild life appeals. In the course of his love affair he incurs th<; hatred of a young army officer, who has him arrested as an outlaw and imprisoned in a dungeon into which the flea flows at high tide. When on the ppint of drowning, he escapes by a secret door. The closing scene shows the wild flight of the young couple, who are finally enabled to' escape by the agency of some strolling acrobats,' who form a human bridge over an otherwise impassable chasm. Tho picture, with a good supporting programme, will bfe screened again tonight and to-morrow night.
