MR. HOLMAN AND LABOR.
ACCUSED OF-"TRAILING IKS COAT.' By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received fl, 9.5 p.m. "■>• ■ -Sydney, February 6. The Sydney Sun, in a leader, " says there is no doubt that the interview gave New Zealand the impression that Mr Holman had trailed his coat for the Labor Conference, and that this so astute and experienced a politician cannot have dono so unconsciously. Perhaps this is an oblique hit at Mr J. C. Watson, who abdicated the political leadership and prospective Prime Ministership to become the most powerful factor in the Labor movement outside Parliament. If so, Mr Watson declines to tread on the coat Mr Holman trails. Mr. Meagher, president of the League, took up the challenge instead of retorting with a sneer at diplomats and timeservers. It appears that Mr Meagher is the official champion of the Labor machine against which Mr Holman is deliberately measuring his individual | strength.
