INSPECTORS' CONFERENCE.
OPENED AT WELI.IXtiTOX. By Telegraph—Press Association. ' .Wellington. Thursday. The conference of chief inspectors and medical inspectors of schools opened here to-day, Mr. (J. Jlogben, InspectorGeneral of Schools, presiding. The Hon. .lames Allen. Minister of Education, briefly stated the work of the conference, the proceedings being in camera. The conference discussed various departmental matters, the main subje.-t being the position of teachers' certificates and classification. It was most advisable, the Minister said, thai certificates given by various education boards should be standardised so that the certificate of one district would be of the same value as that of another, thus .facilitating the transfer of teachens.
