Le Matin announces that an inventor named Schmidt, after four years' unceasing work, has perfected an apparatus giving a biplane wing variable incidence, thus enabling the machine to rise without the use of an elevating plane. Le Matin believes the machine is capable of a speed of 72 miles an hour, and solves the problem of an aero-omnibus. IMPORTING A DIRIGIBLE. Received 5, 8.15 p.m. Newcastle, February 5. i A. J. Haniel gave a command exhibition of looping the loop before the King, Queen and Royalties at Windsor. Thousands assembled in the vicinity. He made fourteen loops, including two double turns. The exhibition lasted seventeen minutes and ended with a volplane to the lawn in front of the Royal party. WAR IN THE AIR. Paris, February 4.
