Le Matin announces that an inventor named Schmidt, after four years' unceasing work, has perfected an apparatus giving a biplane wing variable incidence, thus enabling the machine to rise without the use of an elevating plane. Le Matin believes the machine is capable of a speed of 72 miles an hour, and solves the problem of an aero-omnibus. IMPORTING A DIRIGIBLE. Received 5, 8.15 p.m. Newcastle, February 5. i A. J. Roberts, inventor, is importing | a model dirigible to carry two pas- ] scngers. The owner intends building the car framework locally, and invites ideas for construction or control.
I LOOPING THE LOOP. [ HAMEL BEFORE THE KING. I Times—Sydney Sim Special Cables. • London, February 4. Haniel gave a command exhibition of looping the loop before the King, Queen and Royalties at Windsor. Thousands assembled in the vicinity. He made fourteen loops, including two double turns. The exhibition lasted seventeen minutes and ended with a volplane to the lawn in front of the Royal party. WAR IN THE AIR. Paris, February 4. In the experimental manoeuvres military dirigibles and aeroplanes are proceeding to Marsiellcs, and small squadrons of aeroplanes are attacking the airships.
