EMPIRE PICTURES. The chief item of interest in the new programme screened at the Empire Picture Palace List night is a fine Kalem drama, entitled '/The Skeleton in the Cupboard/' It is a thrilling storv of the life of a cattle thief. Kitty Hawkins, a teacher in the West of' America, returns to her father's ranch, only to fiii'l that lie is a member of a gang of cattle thieves, lie forces her to accompany him on some of his illicit expeditions but she escapes to a company of settler t. They are attacked hy Indians, and after the battle Kitty is the only survivor. The picture then follows her to a happv marriage with a sheriff, when tt former associate of her father's threatens to inform hev husband of the character of her antecedents. Then ensues a nunc uf cross purposes, in which her husband mistakes a nun in whom Kitty confides her troubles for an illicit lover of hers. The picture ends with u stirring revolver encounter and a general straightening of .the tangle. The picture is well supported by ;t hue programme of >ceiiics, comedies and dramas.
