Reports made bv Eastern steamers show that the United States is experiencing considerable trouble in the Philippines in subduing the Moros. Recently the Moros ambushed an American ofl'icer and hacked him to pieces. Ail opinion is expressed in some quartera that the Philippines are likely to secure their independence, and it is considered that, in such an event, serious trouble will be experienced by the Filipinos, who will be unable to cope with the Moros.
