THE PARTY'S SACRIFICES. LOUD GLADSTONE CONDEMNED. ly Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, January 28. At the conference of the Labor Party at Glasgow Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, M.P., claimed that they hail done all that forty men could. In the course of the discussion delegates stated that during the association of Labor and the Liberals the sacrifices had all been ,011 the Labor side. It was absui d to assume that Mr, Lloyd George was going to do anything. They should know what his proposals were, because they had been sold so many times by I inferior Bills. Members of the Parliamentary Party used to be enthusiastic 011 the orange-box at street corners, but now their environment had J toned them down and tliey had lost : their enthusiasm and were giving too much attention to aping dukes. The Labor Conference at Glasgow condemned the South African Government's suppression of trade unionism by armed force as a violation of the elementarv rights of citizenship, and demanded Lord Gladstone's immediate recall.
The conference, also adopted a scheme establishing a Scottish advisory council and decided to meet at Bristol in 1015.

The Lihor Conference resumed tlie discussion of the abolition of the Upper House. The women delegates advocated the placing of several women in the position of legislators. The conference decided that the names of all future nominees to the Legislative Council should be submitted to the central executive of the Political Labor League for endorsement, thus placing nominees of the Upper House on the same footing as Labor Party candidate! for the Legislative Assembly.
