RETURN OK TOURIXC TEAM. i By Telegraph—l'ress Association. Wellington, Y.'.-tcrday. Mr. Orchard, manager of the Xew Zealand cricket team, some members of which returned this morning, states thai the tour had proved most enjoyable, an:l could not be called unsuccessful. The. members had learned many lessons from the cricket point oi view. The bard grounds spoilt the New Zealandors fielding to a certain extent. lie attributed the defeats by Victoria and Xew South Wales to the fact that the. players were affected by the importance of the occasion. The bowling against them was wit of a nature to account for New Zealand's poor scoring. If the matches were played over again li" considered they would do much better. The Xew Zealanders did not learn « great deal in bowling. Though knocked about, thev were treated as Australian bowlers are 'treated every day. Some of the team did not do themselves justice, and could not be expected to adapt themselves to Australian conditions in a month. AH showed glimpses of their New Zealand form, but some were not consistent. The Auckland members of the team, and Reese, the captain, leave Sydney on the'r return to-day.
