During the naval debate in the Senate, Mr. Bostock said that after following the system of contribution us a naval policy for a few years, Australia had finally abandoned it. Nobody had accused Australia of disloyalty in acting thus, and therefore nobody ought To accuse the Canadian-;, who desired their own navy, of disloyalty. If the Umpire was to be held together, the feelings of Australians and Xew Zealauders ought to be considered, ami the whole question of Pacific defence taken up without delav.
