Owing to frost interfering with the signals, Dm Paris-London express, crowded with English passengers, collided with a goods train. The impact drove a large cliest, padlocked on the floor of a truck, through a lirst-eluss corridor carriage into a sleeping ear adjoining, killing the attendant. The cars partially toppled and struck a bridge, bringing the train to a standstill. There were many narrow escapes. ' Two ladies ami a girl were taken from the wreckage not seriously injured. ] Three laden coal trucks at Itcanvais broke their couplings and dashed into a passenger train. The guard and a passenger wcro killed.
