The Imperial Navy
THE ESTIMATES, PROPOSED MEETIXU AT GUILDHALL By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 23, 11 p.m. London, January 23. There are conflicting reports regarding Cabinet happenings. It is understood the Naval Estimates will be discussed next week. An influential City petition, with 1000 signatures, including Lords Southward, Rothschild and Aldenham, and many Unionists and Liberals, requests the Lord Mayor to convene a meeting at the Guildhall to strengthen the Government's hands in order to ensure British naval supremacy. LABORITE'S OPPOSITION. Received 23, 11.50 p.m. London, January 23. Mr Ramsay Macdonald. Labor M.P., speaking at Dundee, attacked Mr. Churchill's Navy administration. He declared that the whole agitation for an increase, on armaments was the work of the armour-plate ring. The Labor Party would see that all the cost should be borne by those clamoring for the expenditure.
