The council of the Koyal Humane Society met to-day and considered the folj lowing eases:—George Tasiuan Dawson, aged 41) years, for rescuing ten employees from death at Colae llav on October 20, I ill;!. When the men subsequently arrived, he was still da/.cdand in aseiiii-coiiieious condition. 'A rough stretcher was constructed, and Dawson conveyed to bis home, three miles distant. Diui'-nn was grunted the Stead gold medal, the highest award that can be given. To Kric 11. Ilatershili, aged 111 years, for rescuing Xorman Ryan, aged 14 years, from drowning at Waipawa. on September 30 last, a bronze medal was granted. Frederick Hairy Karl, an A.IS. on the stranded steamer liulrabarah, who attempted to swim through the heavy breaker* with a line attached to hi's body, with the object of establishing cnmmniiicatkn with the shore, for the purpose of passing the crew of the vessel, and who was rescued with much difficulty by Mr W. A. Adcock, the second officer, a bronze medal was granted. To Jens Mariu-- Mnthcson, aged 1:) years, and William (!.
